I often wonder if people realise how much quiet analysis of them goes on when I work with them to design a garden space that will create a sense of peace within. It surprised some colleagues at a Melbourne Council recently when I worked with them on a Biodiversity project. We were visiting residents to help them plan a corner of their garden as a wildlife haven, but I was also teaching these architects how to make an emotional connection between the client and the new garden space. Without one, the other will fail. They were astounded at how much psychology is in creating that connection.
It is all about memory on every level of memory and every level of the senses. I had the opportunity to share this philosophy with John Poke on his radio show ‘Pokey’s Garden’ for Vision Australia Radio recently. Have a listen and let me know your thoughts..
